Hsin Yin is a graphic and type designer from Malaysia. She learnt to design Hangul script typeface during her internship at Hiut Space, concurrently as the final project at the Korea National University of Arts where she graduated in 2011. Back in Malaysia, she collaborated with design studios on type and typographic design projects. As a member of the Huruf Collective, she delves into local vernacular typography, specifically researching and documenting handwritten commercial vehicle labels. Since 2017, she has been teaching typography part-time at local design institutions. In 2019, she introduced calligraphy and type design coursework. She continuously strives to improve learning tools and methodologies, with a focus in type exploration with grid and modularity.
